INFORS HT bioreactors for research and production
Looking for a bioreactor that fits your lab? Berner Lab supplies bioreactors from INFORS HT, one of the most established manufacturers in the field, with a broad portfolio for research, process development and production. We know lab, and we are here to help you find the right system for your application.
Whether you work in production or research, with top-driven or bottom-driven stirrers, electrical or water-based heating, there is a configuration to match your needs. INFORS HT has also designed its bioreactors with a space-saving footprint, which makes a real difference when bench space is limited.
Benchtop models with autoclavable vessels
The INFORS HT benchtop models are primarily used with autoclavable vessels, with culture volumes ranging from 0.2 L to 10 L. They suit both individual experiments and setups where several cultivations need to run in parallel.
- Minifors 2 is a compact and easy-to-use single unit with a total volume of up to 6 L.
- Labfors 5 is a flexible single unit with a total volume between 2 L and 13 L. Up to six parallel units can be linked side by side.
- Labfors 5 SSF shares the features of Labfors 5, with a motor and stirrer system optimised for simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF).
- Multifors 2 is a multi-unit system with two to six parallel vessels and a total volume from 400 mL to 1 400 mL per vessel.
Special models for pilot and production
The special bioreactors are equipped with in situ sterilisable stainless steel vessels and culture volumes from 5 L up to 750 L. They are built for pilot scale and production where sterile process control in larger volumes is essential.
- Techfors S is a standard model with a total volume from 15 to 45 L.
- Techfors is built to customer specification in any required size.
How to choose the right bioreactor
Choosing the right bioreactor comes down to three main factors: required culture volume, application (such as microbial cultivation, cell culture or SSF) and whether you need to run parallel experiments to compare process parameters. We are happy to review your setup and suggest a configuration that fits your goals.

Frequently asked questions about bioreactors
What is a bioreactor and what is it used for?
A bioreactor is a system in which biological processes such as fermentation or cell culture take place under controlled conditions. It is used in research, process development and production across life science, biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry.
Which INFORS HT bioreactor suits my lab?
It depends on your culture volume, application and whether you want to run parallel cultivations. Contact us and we will help you choose the right model based on your specific requirements.
Can multiple bioreactors run in parallel?
Yes. Labfors 5 can be linked with up to six parallel units, and Multifors 2 is designed for two to six parallel vessels in the same unit.
What is the difference between benchtop and special models?
The benchtop models use autoclavable vessels and offer volumes up to 10 L, which suits research and development. The special models use in situ sterilisable stainless steel vessels with volumes from 5 L up to 750 L, making them suitable for pilot scale and production.
