Continuous Flow Cell Disruptor from Constant Systems

Continuous Flow Cell Disruptor from Constant Systems

Continuous Flow Cell Disruptor from Constant Systems is available as CF1 for up to 10 L or CF2 for up to 100 L. Up to 99 per cent cell lysis in a single pass at 2,700 bar.

Looking for a reliable solution for continuous cell disruption? Continuous Flow Cell Disruptor from Constant Systems comes in two models, CF1 and CF2, and handles sample volumes from 15 mL up to 100 L. We know lab, and we are here to help you choose the right model and configuration for your application.

Both models are built on the same precise hydraulics and deliver up to 99 per cent cell lysis in a single pass with Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The technology is scalable across the entire Constant Systems range, which means results from a CF1 can be reproduced directly on a CF2 without reworking the method.

Two models, the same technology

  • CF1 is the benchtop model for volumes from 15 mL to 10 L, handling up to 100 mL per minute or 6 L per hour.
  • CF2 is the floor-standing model for volumes from 15 mL to 100 L, handling up to 400 mL per minute or 24 L per hour.

CF1 can be placed on a bench or on its dedicated trolley, while CF2 comes mounted on lockable castors as standard. CF2 also includes an integrated peristaltic pump as standard, which can be added to CF1 on request.

Recommended chillers

To keep the sample cool during processing, the following chillers are recommended:

  • K1000 for standard CF1, with cooling capacity 600 W at 5 °C
  • K2000 for CF1 with an oil cooler, with cooling capacity 1,100 W at 5 °C
  • K3000 for CF2, with cooling capacity 3,400 W at 5 °C

Typical applications

  • Cell disruption of bacteria such as E. coli and Pseudomonas
  • Yeast and fungi processes with Saccharomyces, Pichia pastoris and Schizosaccharomyces pombe
  • Algae such as Nannochloropsis oculata
  • Recombinant protein production and enzyme research
  • Vaccine and biopharmaceutical development
  • Bioprocess development, scale-up and production

Frequently asked questions about Continuous Flow Cell Disruptor

What is the difference between CF1 and CF2?

CF1 is the benchtop model for sample volumes up to 10 L and is well suited to research and development. CF2 is the floor-standing model for up to 100 L and is well suited to pilot and production scale.

How high is the cell lysis efficiency?

Both models deliver up to 99 per cent cell lysis in a single pass with Saccharomyces cerevisiae, which means multiple passes are rarely needed.

Do I need compressed air or gas bottles?

No. The system is hydraulically driven and only requires a standard mains electrical connection.

Can I process small sample volumes on the CF range?

Yes. The CF models can be fitted with a One Shot Head Adaptor for smaller volumes from 0.5 to 10 mL.

Are IQ, OQ and PQ documents available?

Yes, IQ, OQ and PQ documentation is available on request for regulated environments.
