Biometra Multigel Family
Biometra Multigel Family
Biometra Multigel Family – vertical gel electrophoresis systems – perfect for higher sample throughput.
- Excellent separation results
- User-friendly handling
- Integrated cooling option
The Biometra Multigel product family includes three different dual-gel models for high-resolution protein and nucleic acid electrophoresis.
These systems are specifically designed for daily laboratory use and are made from high-quality, durable acrylic glass. The simple operating concept allows for quick and intuitive setup.
To perform electrophoresis experiments at higher currents without smile effects, controlled temperature conditions are required. This is achieved through the integrated cooling system. Additionally, the longer separation distances, combined with efficient cooling, ensure excellent separation and high resolution, while also allowing for the separation of native proteins.
- Wide range of dual-gel systems
- Glass plates with fixed spacer glass
- Multi-channel pipette-compatible combs

Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis with Multigel
The dual-gel design allows for the rapid separation of up to 24 samples per gel (48 samples in total). One or two gel operations are possible. Thanks to the built-in water cooling option, the Multigel system is also suitable for native gels.
Multigel-Long
The dual-gel design enables fast separation of up to 24 samples per gel (48 samples in total). One or two gel operations are possible. The built-in water cooling option allows for temperature-controlled runs, preventing smile effects at higher currents. The longer separation distance, combined with efficient cooling, makes it ideal for SSCP analysis. Both Multigel and Multigel-Long support multi-channel pipette-compatible combs.
Maxigel
The Maxigel dual-gel design features closely spaced vertical gels, each capable of separating up to 45 samples (90 samples in total). One or two gel operations are possible. The integrated water cooling system and long run lengths are ideal for achieving excellent separation and high resolution. Maxigel is used for large sample volumes, such as when pre-concentration of the sample is not possible. Applications include the separation of specific proteins from complex mixtures (antibody production, enzyme kinetics, or toxicological studies) and native or SDS-PAGE gels. Maxigel is the preferred system when long run distances, high resolution, or larger sample volumes are required.
Universal Glass Plate Stand
The Biometra Multigel system features a universal glass plate stand that can be used with any Biometra gel size. The stand also includes leveling feet. Up to four gels can be placed in the stand for casting.
